Goalkeeper Idzi returns to the League

Carmarthen Town have announced that manager Mark Aizlewood has sprung a major pre-season surprise by adding goalkeeper Lee Idzi to his squad.

"When I knew he was available I jumped in for his signature," said Aizlewood. "I know he had only been at Merthyr Town since January but as they did not gain an expected promotion I knew I could get Lee to sign for us."

"He is going to be a very good addition to our squad. I know I will now have three goalkeepers but it will mean there will be a competitive fight between them for the first-team spot. Both Steve Cann and Scott James are good keepers but adding Lee will be a bonus."

Idzi, 26, started his career at the old Merthyr Tydfil club before moving to Haverfordwest County, Neath and then Bangor City. He has made 215 Welsh Premier League appearances since 2007 and two years later won the Young Player of the Year.
